However, there is a thriving film industry in the southern states of India, primarily Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, collectively known as the South film industry. Despite their immense popularity and success, South stars often face discrimination and disrespect from their northern counterparts. Many South stars have spoken out about the mockery and disrespect they face in the Hindi film industry. They have shared stories of being treated as outsiders, facing language barriers, and being typecast in stereotypical roles. Some have even talked about being denied opportunities and recognition because of their regional backgrounds.
