The funeral of Tollywood director K Viswanath who passed away on Thursday night will be held on Friday evening. The veteran director was also called Kalathapasvi by his fans and the industry. The South film industry is heartbroken by Viswanath’s demise. Many celebrities also expressed grief on their social media pages offering their condolences to his family.
Many celebs, including Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, SS Rajamouli, MM Keeravani, Allu Aravind, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and others paid a visit as his mortal remains have been kept for public homage at his residence in Film Nagar in Hyderabad.

Viswanath was born in 1930 in Repalle village of Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. He has directed about 50 movies, which will remain cult-classics in the history of Telugu cinema. He moved to Chennai with his passion for filmmaking and started his film career as a sound recording artist in a studio. He made his directorial debut with the movie Atma Gauravam in 1965. He came to the limelight with the movie Siri Siri Muvva, which was released in 1976. His film Sankarabharanam created history in Telugu cinema. The movie won National Film Award in the Best Film category.
Sagara Sangam, Srutilayalu, Sirivennela, Swarnakamalam, and Swati Kiranam brought him fame and fortune. His films, such as Sapthapadi, Swati Mutyam, Swayam Krishi, Subhodayam, Shubhalekha, Aapadbandhavudu, and Subha Sankalpam raised awareness and highlighted social issues. His last film as a director was Subhapradam.
The central government awarded him the Padma Shri in 1992 for his contribution to India cinema. He also received Dadasaheb Award in 2016. Apart from helming, he also starred in several superhit films in Telugu.
