Why Allu Arjun choose iconic Sandhya 70MM theatre for 'Pushpa 2' premiere?

The entertainment world was rocked on Friday when movie star Allu Arjun was arrested by the Hyderabad Police in connection with a stampede at the Sandhya 70MM Theatre during the premiere of his film, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', on December 4. Tragically, a woman lost her life in the stampede after Allu Arjun, his co-star Rashmika Mandanna, and other crew members arrived at the popular cinema hall. Sandhya Theatre has long been known for the electric excitement of fans eager to secure their seats and catch a glimpse of their favorite stars, who often visit the iconic movie hall located in Hyderabad's bustling RTC X Road.

The rush of excited fans, along with reported issues in crowd control and the alleged lack of prior notice to the police about Allu Arjun's arrival, led to the stampede that resulted in a death.

However, Sandhya Theatre management has stated that they had informed the police on December 2 about the Pushpa 2 premiere and the cast's visit to the cinema.

An application submitted to the Hyderabad Police and stamped by them emerged on Friday, showing that Sandhya Theatre had requested police security for the event on December 4. The application is dated December 2.

Tragically, Revathi, a 39-year-old woman, succumbed to asphyxiation, while her son, Sri Tej, was hospitalized in critical condition.

Sandhya Theatre has long been a popular venue for movie premieres, especially for big-budget films featuring well-known stars. The theatre's reputation for hosting major events often attracts large crowds, which can occasionally become difficult to manage.

In January, when Telugu star Mahesh Babu visited Sandhya 70MM Theatre to watch a movie, footage showed several fans attempting to jump over barriers near the actor's seating area.

Similar scenes of large crowds of fans outside the Sandhya Theatre were witnessed during the recent premieres of Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan and Prabhas's 'Salaar Part 1'.
