Wild Dog preview: Will this Nagarjuna and Dia Mirza starrer live up to its hype?

Director Ahishor Solomon’s much-awaited Wild Dog, starring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dia Mirza, Saiyami Kher, Ali Reza and others is gearing up for release this Friday amid high expectations.

The trailer and other promotional material of the film have looked promising, with Nagarjuna playing the role of an NIA officer called Vijay Varma in the film. Based on a real covert operation where a specially formed team nabbed the brutal terrorists behind the 2007 Hyderabad blasts in Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park, the film is a cinematic retelling of the aftermath. Nagarjuna, who’s in his 60s, underwent training for his role as the NIA officer who leads his team. The actor, who has always maintained his fitness, worked with Hollywood stunt director David Ismalone and Bollywood stunt director Shyam Kaushal.

Talking to Hyderabad Times about prepping for the action sequences, Nag had previously said, “When you are stepping into the role of an NIA officer, every move must be taken care of and someone like David has mastered the art. He has clarity even on how to hold a gun and how to walk next to the bomb that might explode at any time. It was very exciting to learn new things as this is the first time I play such a role, even if I’ve played police officers in the past. In fact, David made it very easy as he worked for many such combat-based movies globally. His entire team was very professional in handling things and the quality reflects in the movie.” The actor also said that it wasn’t really a challenge physically to pull off this role as he has always maintained his fitness.

Actress Saiyami Kher also once told Hyderabad Times that Nag had given her and rest of the cast a run for their money because he was so fit, even in challenging weather conditions. Ahishor Solomon promised in numerous interviews that the film will be of global standards. Though many OTT platforms offered them great deals, the makers wanted to release the film on big screens after the success of Krack and Uppena. The action sequences that were shot in Kashmir and Rohtang Pass are said to be the highlight of the film and Nagarjuna fans cannot wait to watch him on the big screen. Thaman S has composed BGM that is also expected to be one of the film’s highlights.
