As per the latest reports, Mahesh Babu’s fans are reportedly planning to celebrate their favourite star’s birthday on 9th August by re-releasing his blockbuster ‘Pokiri’ in theatres. The news is that the film will be reportedly released in a remastered version so that Mahesh’s fans can enjoy it in 4K UHD in theatres. The same will be reportedly announced soon.
Besides helming the film, director Puri Jagannadh took care of the production duties along with Mahesh Babu’s sister Manjula Ghattamaneni. Ileana D’Cruz was the lead in the film, which also starred Prakash Raj, Nassar, Ajay and others in important roles.
‘Pokiri’, which was released in 2006, has set several new box-office records besides breaking several existing ones. The film also proved Mahesh’s box-office stamina which was elevated by Mani Sharma’s chartbusters that continue to play on top music channels even today.
‘Pokiri’ has been remade by several other top stars of various languages of the Indian film industry. ‘Pokkiri’ in Tamil by Vijay, Porki in Kannada, Moner Jala in Bangladeshi and also in Pakistani cinema. The film also won several state and Filmfare awards for its performances and direction the following year.
