When it comes to films, the concept of friendship is never neglected and people relate and recall such sweet memories while watching such films. Some of the films set a benchmark in such a genre. On the occasion of friendship day, let’s take a look at some Telugu films that are based on the concept of friendship.

‘Prema Desam’ tests the true friendship of two friends. In the film, two friends fall for the same girl. Directed by Kathir, the film is entertaining, heart-warming and touching. Oscar Award winner AR Rahman had composed music for the film and the film boasts of some best songs of all time, especially the song ‘Mustafa Mustafa’ is still one of the most popular friendship songs.

Friendship doesn’t restrict itself to age. In this KS Ravi Kumar directorial film, they don’t hold any grudges and not take pot shots. They would be magnanimous by accepting the shortcomings of each other. Together you will laugh, cry and in the end, your friendship will become stronger after watching this film. Considered to be one of the best friendship movies ever, ‘Sneham Kosam’ features Chiranjeevi and Vijay Kumar as best friends in the film. Even Vijay’s death cannot defeat their friendship in the end. It’s a pot-boiler.

Friendship doesn’t restrict itself to gender. The Vikraman directorial film showed how a gender difference friendship should not go beyond the confines of their conventional relationship. It is the tale of enduring friendship between a man and a woman played by Venkatesh and Kalyani. People not only fell in love with the characters but also the bond and relationship that develops between them as friends. We see them start off as children and as life unfolds they go through good times and bad, but in the end, they are always there for each other.

All of us identified with either one of Chandu, or Rajesh or Sharvanthi or Shankar or Appu or Tyson. The movie tells the story of four B. Tech students and the struggles in their study lives. The Sekhar Kammula directorial presents a very realistic portrayal of love, study, career and complexities of friendship. Although they all have different strong-willed personalities, they eventually realise that they have things in common. This is a funny and coming-of-age movie that has humour, courage, sacrifice and love.

This is the second instalment of 2004 hit film ‘Arya’ and both were directed by Sukumar. The movie begins with a childhood friendship when two boys meet in an orphanage. Allu Arjun plays Arya who grows in the orphanage while his friend Ajay gets adopted by a rich family. They both fall in love with one girl Geetha who works in the company owned by Ajay. In the end, Arya proves his innocence, sincere love and the essence of friendship in the film. It is a tale of friendship and the ultimate sacrifice of a true friend.

The coming-of-age story of Vijay is a new-age tale of friendship. Vijay’s friendship with Anitha makes him responsible and eternal. Played by Chiranjeevi and Sakshi Sivanand, they are close to our hearts because they make the most unusual set of friends. The K Raghavendra Rao directorial film does look at the challenges men and women face through their lives with an unexpected, thought-provoking end.
