Music Review: 118

Give this one a chance this weekend if love songs are your thing.
Album:

118

Genre: Tollywood

Kalyan Ram

, Shalini Pandey and Nivetha Thomas

thriller

118, directed by Guhan, created quite a buzz with its teaser and trailer. The film’s

jukebox

is short and sweet, consisting only of two songs and a theme composed by Shekhar Chandra.

First on the album is the romantic track Chandamame, crooned by Yazin Nizar and penned by Ramanjaneyulu. While the tune really has nothing new to offer, Yazin’s vocals and the lyrics make it fun to listen to. The music by Shekhar too doesn’t offer anything out-of-the-box.

Padhalu Nee Dhari is another romantic track, featuring Nuthana Mohan’s vocals and Kalyan Tripuraneni’s lyrics. Yet again, the tune and music have nothing much to offer but Nuthana’s vocals and Kalyan’s lyrics manage to make the number work. The melodious number is good enough for a one-time listen.

Last on the album is the 118 Theme. Edgy and suspenseful, the theme seems to gel well with the concept of the film, but doesn’t have much in it to keep you interested for long.

All in all, the album of 118 is an one that could’ve done with much better music and tunes. However, it’s good enough for a one-time listen, especially for the lyrics. Give this one a chance this weekend if love songs are your thing. If not, you aren’t missing out on much.
