​Manmohan Singh​



Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh is an alumni of St. John's College, the University of Cambridge. Prior to that the 1932 born Indian politician studied in Panjab University where he got bachelor's and master's degree in Economics. He then move to Cambridge University for Economics Tripos. Singh was born in Gah, which is in today's Pakistan; after partition of the country his family migrated to India. He is well reputed for carrying out several reforms that liberalized India's economy.

​Shashi Tharoor​


Shashi Tharoor, currently serving as Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has a doctorate in International Relations and Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University; he was the youngest person of his time to have received this achievement. Before going abroad, he had obtained B.A History from St. Stephens College of Delhi University. He started his political journey in 2009 and prior to this he served at the United Nations. He is the nephew of Parameshwaran Tharoor, the founder of Reader's Digest in India.

​Rahul Gandhi​


1970 born politician Rahul Gandhi holds M.Phil. in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge (Trinity College). A year after being enrolled in St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, for undergraduate studies he moved to Harvard University and again to Rollins College in Florida where graduated in 1994. He joined politics in 2004.

​Kapil Sibal​



Lawyer and politician, Kapil Sibal had obtained LLM from Harvard Law School in 1977. Before that he had completed education at Faculty of Law, DU; St. Stephen's College. He is alumni of St John's High School. In 1989, he was appointed the Additional Solicitor General of India.

​Jyotiraditya Scindia​


1971 born Jyotiraditya Scindia had received a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2001. The grandson of Jiwajirao Scindia, the last Maharaja of the princely state of Gwalior and the son of Madhavrao Scindia, Jyotiraditya is currently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Jyotiraditya is also a graduate with BA degree in Economics from the undergraduate liberal arts college of Harvard University.

​Subramanian Swamy​



The former statistical adviser to the government of India, Subramanian Swamy has studied at Harvard University on a Rockefeller scholarship. He obtained PhD in Economics in 1965 and his thesis adviser was Nobel laureate Simon Kuznets. Later he worked at the Lowell house at Harvard University. Prior to this, he obtained master's degree in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He also has a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Hindu College.

​Salman Khurshid​


The former Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of External Affairs, Salman Khurshid holds M.A., Bachelor of Civil Law at St Edmund Hall of Oxford University. Prior to this, he also obtained B.A. (English and Jurisprudence) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He also studied at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. He is the grandson of Zakir Husain, the former President of India.

​Mahua Moitra​


1974 born Mahua Moitra is a graduate in economics and mathematics from Mount Holyoke College South Hadley in Massachusetts, United States. Born in the Cachar district of Assam, Mahua went to Gokhale Memorial Girls' School in Kolkata. She left her job at JPMorgan Chase in 2009 to enter politics.

​Akhilesh Yadav​


1973 born politician Akhilesh Yadav is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of Samajwadi Party. Akhilesh holds a master's degree in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia. He also has a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from JSS Science and Technology University, Mysore, Karnataka.

​Sukhbir Singh Badal​


The president of Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal holds an MBA degree from the prestigious California State University, Los Angeles. Prior to this, he obtained education from M.A. Hons. School in Economics from Panjab University Chandigarh, and The Lawrence School, Sanawar.

​Jairam Ramesh​


Congress party leader Jairam Ramesh holds a masters degree in Public Policy and Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College, Pennsylvania. Prior to this, he graduated from IIT Bombay in 1975 in Mechanical Engineering.
