Balancing Rock, Nova Scotia, Canada

Located in Nova Scotia, Canada, the Balancing Rock formation is a column of basalt rocks standing 9 meters tall on the edge of a cliff overlooking St. Mary's Bay. Believed to be part of the North Mountain Basalt flow from 200 million years ago, this unique geological structure is thought to be supported by an inner core rising beneath it, preventing it from falling despite erosion from wind and water.

Balanced Rock, Garden of the Gods, Colorado, USA

Situated in Colorado Springs as part of the Garden of the Gods park, this natural wonder features a massive red sandstone rock balanced atop a smaller pedestal, shaped by erosion. Weighing 700 tons, the red sandstone rock appears to defy gravity as it precariously sits on a narrow rock.

Found in Utah's Arches National Park, the Balanced Rock stands 128 feet tall, with a balancing rock rising 55 feet above its base. Composed of hard slick rock from the Entrada Sandstone, it rests on a pedestal of softer Dewey Bridge Member, making an eventual collapse inevitable. Featured in the iconic movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," it adds to the park's natural wonders.
