Age just two, records two: toddler’s snooker and pool shots amaze Guinness World Records
In the world of sports, age is rarely the headline, but things are changing now. Jude Owens, a two-year-old from Manchester, is making waves by achieving feats most adults can only dream of. His name has officially entered the Guinness World Records after completing two extraordinary trick shots in snooker and pool.
As reported by PEOPLE, Jude is now recognized as the youngest person ever to perform two advanced shots in cue sports. He first set a record with a snooker double pot, a shot where “two balls are legally potted with a single strike of the cue ball into different pockets.”
Just 41 days later, he made a pool bank shot, which is “when the cue ball is struck to hit the object ball off one or more rails before it enters a pocket,” according to Guinness World Records. Both accomplishments have cemented his place among the youngest record holders in the organization’s history.
The little prodigy was introduced to snooker and pool by his father, Luke Owens, who bought him a mini table to practice at home.
“I think I realized once he put the cue through his fingers, and it was dead natural the way he did it,” Luke said.
“Also, when I uploaded quite a few videos to social media, I had some big social media outlets reaching out to us to use the content.”
Being just two years old, Jude initially struggled to reach the snooker table properly.
“We used to have to use barstools from anywhere that we went,” Luke explained, as quoted by PEOPLE. “But we ended up sourcing a stool, which we mainly used for cooking at first, but then we utilized it for him to use for snooker shots.”
As reported by Guinness World Records, Luke Owens said his son has achieved “quite a lot in such a short space of time.”
“And for him to achieve not just one, but two world records, it’s probably the pinnacle moment,” he added.
“How do you even beat that in life?”
Luke also admitted that Jude has “a lot more natural ability” compared to himself. According to the reports, when asked who would win a snooker match between them, Jude answered confidently, “Me.”
Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, praised Jude’s achievements.
“Record-breaking has always belonged to everyone, regardless of age. To see someone as young as Jude display such skill, enthusiasm, and determination is incredibly special,” he said in a statement, as quoted by PEOPLE.
Glenday added, “We’re thrilled to welcome him into the Guinness World Records family.”
