Himachal Pradesh to see fresh rain and snow spell from March 26, says IMD; here are the places likely to see snowfall
Himachal Pradesh is once again entering a period of changing weather. A fresh spell in late March often brings a mix of uncertainty and preparation, with local authorities, residents, and visitors all watching the sky a little more carefully.
In the latest forecast for Himachal Pradesh, weather officials have warned of another round of rain, snow, thunder, and gusty winds. The coming days are expected to bring a noticeable change, especially in the higher reaches and selected districts.
The state had already seen yellow weather warnings for Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, and Chamba, with fresh precipitation expected to build from March 26 and continue through the end of the month.
The forecast suggests that the weather will become more active as a western disturbance moves in over northwest India. While light rain or snowfall may occur at a few places in Himachal, followed by more widespread activity later.
It is noted that snow and rain may continue in many parts of the state till March 28, with some forecasts extending the wet spell further into the last days of March.
On March 26, the districts of Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, and Chamba are expected to see thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and possible snow at isolated locations.
Temperature trends are also expected to shift. The Tribune reported that minimum temperatures may stay largely stable or rise slightly, while maximum temperatures could climb by around 2°C to 5°C during the weather cycle.
Over the past 24 hours, the state remained mostly dry, with only light rain in a few places, while temperatures stayed below normal in many areas. Among the key stations, Shimla recorded 8.2°C as the minimum, Dharamsala 6.2°C, and Manali 3.9°C. Una touched 29°C as the highest maximum, while Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest at minus 1.3°C.
