Is that FBI boss Kash Patel dancing barefoot to a Bollywood song? Truth behind viral video
Call it an advantage or a downside of the digital age, but content can go viral in seconds - sparking laughter, outrage, or confusion overnight. Right now, FBI Director Kash Patel finds himself at the centre of one such storm.
As a key figure in US national security under President Donald Trump’s administration, Kash Patel’s every move draws intense scrutiny, especially amid rising tensions with Iran. Recently, a video of a man grooving to a classic Bollywood track has set the internet abuzz, with many speculating whether the dancer is Patel due to a striking resemblance.
A hacker group called Handala Hack Team, linked to Iran, recently claimed they breached FBI Director Kash Patel's personal email. According to their website, Patel "will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims." They released over 300 emails, photos, and documents from 2010-2019. A Justice Department official confirmed the breach, noting the leaked material "appeared authentic."
This comes amid US-Iran- tensions. The New York Times reported the files were posted on a site claiming Iranian ties but hosted in Russia. AP News added that the hack targeted Patel's Gmail, previously flagged in 2024 alerts. No videos from the leak match the viral clip.
The man is seen dancing joyfully in a home setting, with food on the table and friends cheering him on. Online users quickly speculated, “Is this Patel letting loose?” Even AI tools like Grok initially pointed to a “strong facial resemblance (beard, hair, features, build),” suggesting it could fit the so-called “personal leak narrative.”
However, verification revealed that the video is old and has been viral on YouTube since at least 2021. It shows an unrelated man celebrating "his wife leaving for her parental home." Grok later clarified, "The guy in the video... doesn't match Kash's known professional look from official portraits (short styled hair, suits, FBI settings). Probably just a meme clip tied to the hack story for laughs."
