King Charles laughs after an unexpected Seagull droppings spoils his jackets during Northern Ireland tour

A lighthearted moment took place when King Charles and Queen Camilla were during their visit to Northern Ireland this week, but Wednesday brought an unpredictable encounter with local wildlife. While greeting crowds outside the Newcastle Community Cinema in the seaside town of Newcastle, the 77-year-old monarch was pooped on by a Seagull, with the dropping landing directly on the back of his jacket. Rather than letting the mishap disrupt his schedule, King Charles laughed it off, turned down an immediate jacket change, and kept shaking hands with residents while joking, "At least it didn't land on my head!"

According to GB News, a woman in the crowd playfully yelled out that the incident was a "very Ulster greeting," nodding to the historic northern province where Newcastle is situated. The lighthearted reaction highlighted King Charles' characteristically dry sense of humor, which was similarly prominent during his recent trip to the United States.While delivering a historic address to Congress, the King repeatedly charmed lawmakers with a string of playful jokes that drew plenty of laughs.

Bringing up the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, he paused to note that back in the United Kingdom, that amount of time is considered "just the other day."
He also amused the room by pointing out that the U.S. and the U.K. share virtually everything in common, “except, of course, language."

Charles even poked fun at the ancient Westminster custom of holding a Member of Parliament "hostage" at Buckingham Palace to ensure the monarch's safety during addresses to Parliament.
He joked that modern hostages are treated so well they never want to leave, before playfully asking Congress if anyone wanted to volunteer for the job.

The seagull incident occurred on the second day of a surprise three-day tour of Northern Ireland, which saw the royal couple split up for individual morning itineraries after spending Tuesday together in Belfast.
King Charles visited the Newcastle Community Cinema alongside actor and Newcastle native Ian McElhinney, where the King was handed a "VIP" ticket at the box office.

The cinema center has served as a prominent community hub for films, live performances, and sports meetings since its founding back in 2008. Following the cinema stop, Charles traveled to the Donard Methodist Church to visit the local pantry food bank, where he assisted volunteers in packing a delivery parcel for mobility-challenged community members.

Meanwhile, the 78-year-old Queen Camilla spent her morning touring Royal Hillsborough, which made history in 2021 as the first village in the region to receive official Royal status.
She walked through the streets to greet well-wishers and met with local entrepreneurs, including the owners of The Parson’s Nose pub, where she stepped behind the bar to pull her own pint of Guinness.

The King and Queen came back together in the afternoon to host a garden party at Hillsborough Castle, which serves as the official Northern Ireland residence for both the British monarch and the Secretary of State.
The event allowed the monarchs to mingle with guests representing Northern Ireland’s voluntary and charitable sectors, honoring those who have driven positive change in their local neighborhoods.
To commemorate the gathering, Charles and Camilla planted a Malus Royalty tree in the castle gardens, extending a distinctly botanical theme to their week.
Just two days prior, on Monday, the King and Queen had attended the Chelsea Flower Show, where they spent time with soccer icon David Beckham comparing their respective namesake rose blossoms.
