Meet Saket Saurabh: The corporate professional who built a ₹5 crore momo business after quitting a ₹50 LPA job
The corporate landscape in India is such that people keep switching organisations in the lookout for better pay and career growth.
But one quirky story has outshone them all, where a man ditched a fat pay cheque for street-side steaming baskets - sounds crazy, right?
Gurgaon's Saket Saurabh traded security for spice, betting on India's momo craze.
According to a Hindustan Times interview on February 6, 2026, he looked forward to building “a recognisable dumplings brand in India” despite the stable pay cheque.
His Instagram video, captioned “50 lakh ki job resign kar chale momo business karne,” racked up nearly 3 lakh views, with him adding, “From road-side cart to a proper franchising business. Every step earned. And this is just the beginning.”
As told to HT.com, they tested a canopy selling only momos outside, then a cart at Infotech, pulling ₹10,000–₹12,000 daily.
Saket told HT.com, “A ₹500 crore brand cannot be built around carts.” So they switched to a "CSR model" or Cart Service Restaurant, with cosy shops and carts outside. Today, they've got 40 carts, 20 outlets, and two quick-service spots across seven states.

Carts that earned good revenue
His earnings soared consistently. In the first year from Jan–Mar 2024, he made ₹16 lakh. During 2024–25, ₹2.2 crore. This year already ₹2.2 crore, eyeing close to ₹3 crore, totalling over ₹5 crore in 2.5 years, said the HT report.Saket’s advice to people about the momos business
Saket said to HT, advising momo moguls, “Start with a proper outlet. Do not start with a stall. With a stall, you can earn maybe a lakh, ₹2 lakh or ₹4 lakh. But when you talk about bigger numbers and a proper business, start with an outlet. This is one of my big learnings.”end of article
