Elizabeth I

Elizabeth I did not make it to the English throne almost because the Roman Catholics considered her illegitimate and later on she was imprisoned for a year. However, in 1558 she succeeded to the throne and made her mark in history with her 45-year thrilling reign and is known to be the most successful English monarch. She also established the Church of England under her rule and was the only daughter of Queen Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth’s time as queen was mainly a triumph in the art and theatre segment.

Hatshepsut

Queen and wife of the pharaoh, she adopted the insignia of bearing a beard and performing the pharaoh’s ceremonial race at the Sed festival. She ruled for two decades and married her brother, but was not able to bear a child. The walls of a temple in Egypt indicate that she ran a military campaign in Nubia with trading missions with Punt. However, upon her death, all attempts were made to erase her signs as a ruler.

Anne Boleyn

The second wife of King Henry VIII changed the history of England as she broke his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon so she could take over the throne. It still is a noted factor in England’s history as it caused a drift from the Roman Catholic Church in 1533, it was Anne’s influences pushed him to take action and declare himself as the Supreme Head of the Church of England. Although she was beheaded afterward, she changed the entire course of English history.

Nefertiti

In the 14th century, Nefertiti became the Queen of Egypt and became responsible for Egypt’s religious shift from worshipping multiple gods to only the sun god Atoh. Her name translates to ‘A beautiful woman has come’ and was beautiful with an exaggerated feminine body shape and a striking face. She acted as her husband’s co-ruler as a consort and made major changes in Egypt’s religion, boring six children.

Cleopatra VII

The last pharaoh of Egypt who ruled before the Romans took control had a sincere influence during his reign. Cleopatra, his wife was known for her relationships with Roman commanders and bore three children marking her suicide by snake bite after her husband and Roman commander Mark Antony took his own life. Cleopatra was smart and politically valuable, coming to power in Egypt at 17. She was worshipped as a god. After her death, the Egyptian empire was taken over by the Romans.

Rani of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai was the Maharani consort of Jhansi in the Maratha Empire. She was one of the leading figures in the Indian Rebellion of 1957 and became a leading national hero and symbol of bravery to the British rule in India for the Indian nationalists.
