What this delivery rider allegedly did outside a temple at 1 am has social media shocked and furious

A brief CCTV clip from Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur has suddenly become a viral talking point on social media. The video, which is now being widely shared, reportedly shows a food delivery rider involved in an unusual incident outside a temple during late-night hours. As the clip continues to circulate, it has triggered a wave of reactions online, with users divided over what they see in the footage.

What started as a local CCTV recording has now become a bigger online discussion, with people reacting strongly on public property, responsibility, and social conditions.

CCTV clip from Hapur goes viral online

The video was shared on X by the account @gharkekalesh. According to the details shared in the post, the incident reportedly took place near Delhi Road in Hapur under the Nagar Kotwali area.

In the clip, the person seen is reportedly wearing a Zomato T-shirt and arrives on a motorcycle late at night. The CCTV timestamp mentioned online places the incident around 1 am.

The footage allegedly shows the rider stopping near water taps installed outside a temple. He is then seen removing one of the taps within a short time and placing it inside his delivery box before leaving the spot.

The post shared with the video stated, “Hapur: Delivery boy caught on CCTV stealing a water tap from outside a temple on Delhi Road (Nagar Kotwali). He stopped, unscrewed it & fled.”

Alleged second attempt at the same spot

As per information being shared online, the same person reportedly returned to the location around 1:20 am.

It is further claimed that he tried to remove another tap during this second visit. However, the attempt reportedly did not succeed, and he eventually left the area.

The clip has since gained traction on social media, with users repeatedly sharing and discussing the incident.

Once the video went viral, it quickly drew mixed reactions from users across platforms. Many expressed concern and criticism, while others tried to view the situation from a social and economic angle.

One user wrote, “Imagine how poor the economy and conditions are for low-wage workers – that someone had to steal a public water tap just to sell it and survive. It always rains the hardest on those without shelter. Before blaming the person, ask what kind of system and leadership pushed them to this point.”

Another comment said, “Stealing public property should be punishable offence, But look at from other perspective, How poor that guy might be.”

Some reactions were more critical in tone.
