Who is Simran Bala? Meet the first woman to lead an all-male CRPF contingent on Republic Day 2026
This year, Republic Day is going to be extra special. For the first time ever, a woman officer will lead an all-male CRPF contingent. Her name is Simran Bala, all of 26, this young lady hails from Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. She’ll be in charge of over 140 male officers.
According to a report by Money Control, Simran grew up in Nowshera, a small town in the Rajouri district. She’s the first woman from her area to join the CRPF. Now, she’s stepping onto one of the country’s biggest stages. Leading an all-male team at the Republic Day parade is no small feat, and she’s doing it with confidence.
Simran studied political science and then started preparing for the UPSC exams. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, she cleared the CAPF exam and trained at the CRPF Academy in Gurugram. People noticed her leadership skills and how confident she was speaking in front of others. Those qualities helped her get ready for bigger responsibilities.
According to the report, Simran’s first posting was in the Bastariya Battalion in Chhattisgarh, where the work was tough because of anti-Naxal operations. It was challenging, but she learned a lot and became stronger. That experience helped her get ready to lead at the Republic Day parade.
Until now, female officers only led mixed or all-women teams. Simran is the first to lead an all-male contingent. This shows that talent and determination matter more than gender. She’s breaking barriers and setting an example for women everywhere.
