In one such saddening instance, a mother's love, a CEO's ambition, and a child's future were all shattered on a hillside road.

Who was Kasey Grelle?

Kasey Grelle was a 41-year-old CEO and founder of Aux Insights, a marketing consulting firm based in St. Louis, who passed away in a tragic car crash while on a family vacation in Nicaragua. Her 11-year-old son, Julian, suffered critical injuries in the accident and remains hospitalised.
Her marketing consulting firm helped private equity-backed companies boost revenue through smart strategies. The firm essentially acted as an outsourced chief marketing office, turning big ideas into real profits, according to the New York Post.

With an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, Grelle had become her household's main earner after her husband Dave's prior serious accident. She juggled boardrooms and bedtime stories with equal passion.

Tragedy struck on March 23, 2026, at Rancho Santana resort in Tola, on Nicaragua's southwest coast. Grelle was vacationing with Dave and their three kids when their open-air tourist truck, carrying about 28 foreigners, lost control downhill and rolled over.

Over 20 people were hurt, including children. Grelle suffered fatal head trauma and a skull fracture en route to Hospital Gaspar García Laviana in Rivas.

Grelle’s brother put up a heart-wrenching post on social media

Grelle's brother, Andy Joyce, shared his raw grief on Facebook, writing, "one of the most brilliant, driven, and selfless people I have ever met, and she was relentless in everything she did, especially when it came to helping her people." He added, "We are heartbroken for David Grelle, Julian, Kit, and Des, as well as everyone else who knew and loved Kasey."
