Downey became Tony Stark after grappling through a lot of struggle of addiction in the early 2000s. At that time, his addiction issues often came in limelight, making headlines, overshadowing his career. For battling these challenges, the actor has often surrounded himself with positive influences, including yoga. His holistic approach towards a healthier life made him incorporate yoga, which helped him in finding balance, discipline and mental clarity.

What Downey said about yoga

In 2012, in an interview with Men's Fitness, the actor spoke about the importance of having a strong support system and finding clarity through power-flow yoga support. TIME quoted him: "He’s fit, mellow and reflective after a morning of power-flow yoga with his teacher Vinnie Marino, part of what could be called Team New Downey". Downey in this respect mentioned, “I need a lot of support, like Lance Armstrong. Life is really hard, and I don’t see some active benevolent force out there.”
