No fancy regimen needed: 5 simple wellness routines that actually work

Somewhere down the line, wellness earned a reputation for being exhausting. Cold plunges in the morning. Instagrammable dishes for lunch. A supplement stack that costs more than rent. Let’s be real. Life itself is chaotic! Who has the time, resources, or energy to invest in a 15-step wellness routine? But what if wellness does not have to be all that complicated? It can be simple. In fact, it has to be! If you are looking for something low-key that still delivers the best benefits, here are five simple wellness habits worth trying. You’re welcome!

2/6

Morning must

It has become almost normal to reach for your phone along with your morning joe. But instead, try this. As soon as you wake up, give yourself a couple of minutes to step into the new day. Drink a glass of warm water to kickstart your body. Open the blinds and get some fresh air and sun. Try to avoid jumping onto your social feeds in the early hours. You don’t need your first adrenaline rush to come from social media.

3/6

Move your body

No, we are not talking about hitting the gym in the morning. Just simple movements. You have been resting for a while now, and your body needs movement. Stretching exercises are great. Maybe take a stroll in the yard with your coffee. Light stretching is particularly helpful. The aim here is not really fitness, but to wake your body and mind—to shake off that fogginess and lack of energy. The idea is to move. Not more, not less.

4/6

Simple skincare routine

Taking care of your body also means taking care of your skin. Not for aesthetic reasons. Skin is the largest organ in your body, protecting you from pollution, bacteria, and environmental stress. A skincare routine doesn’t necessarily mean 100 steps. Sometimes the basics can do the job. Use a couple of essential products—a good cleanser, moisturizer, one active ingredient (depending on your concern), sunscreen, and lip balm.

5/6

Give your phone a break

It’s no secret that smartphones have become an inseparable part of our lives. They go everywhere. To lunch, to the gym, the grocery store, and sometimes even the bathroom. Going on a complete digital detox is a luxury that not everyone can afford. But we can certainly hit pause, at least for some time. Consider not using your phone for at least 20 minutes during the day. This could be the first few minutes after waking up or before going to bed. You can also try not relying too much on your phone during meals. Pick one and practice.

6/6

Journaling

You don’t have to be a poet while journaling. This is not a project, nor a book you are planning to publish. So don’t bother about perfection. Just pen down your thoughts, your worries, and your best moments. Scribble. Give your thoughts a runway to land. That is all that matters. This simple habit will also make you feel relaxed.
Wellness routines are not really about how elaborate they are. It’s about consistency. Simple habits, over time, yield the best results. Remember that. Just that.
