Insider Gaming reports that Sony is working on a new handheld gaming console, codenamed “Q Lite,” which might not be any of its previous handheld consoles, as it would not be anything like the Sony PSP or PS Vita, but rather a companion to the PlayStation 5.

According to the report, Sony's "Q Lite" is primarily meant to work with the Remote Play feature of the PlayStation 5, allowing games to be streamed from the console over the internet.

As per the prototype models seen, the console will be similar to a PlayStation 5 controller, except it will have a sizable 8-inch LCD touchscreen in the centre, with a 1080P resolution and refresh rate of 60Hz. Additionally, the device will feature adaptive triggers for haptic feedback and typical handheld components such as volume controls, speakers, and an audio input jack.

Sony has been lately promoting the PS Remote Play, a feature that enables players to enjoy PlayStation games on various devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones. However, one needs constant access to a high-speed internet connection to use this feature, and it is also capped at 1080P at 60fps.

The “Q Lite” is said to be under Q & A testing as of now, and as per the report, we can expect it to debut sometime around the end of 2024, along with the rumoured PlayStation 5 Pro. That is all we know about the said “Q Lite,” so we suggest taking this with a pinch of salt.
