The new end-to-end chat encryption label is presently in the testing phase and it is available for Android beta testers. The beta testers can access the feature in update version 2.24.6.11 of the app.

As per the report, the end-to-end encrypted chats are now conveniently displayed beneath contact and group names in your conversations. This enhancement ensures users are always informed when their chats are securely protected with the Signal protocol, offering a visual confirmation that ensures message privacy and call security. Notably, this caption vanishes after a brief moment to allow last seen information to surface.

“We consider making the encryption status promptly visible at the top of the chat interface like a proactive approach to remind people regarding the security status of their conversations. If you’re interested into learning additional information about the security of the app, we recommend reading the security page on the official WhatsApp website,” mentions the report.

Users will have the option to select between "My Contacts," "Selected Contacts," or "Nobody" to deactivate this feature. When both you and a contact activate this setting for each other, stickers featuring your avatars together will be accessible in your chat. Empowering users to specify who can utilize their avatar in stickers enables them to limit their personal image sharing exclusively to trusted contacts, fostering a sense of security and comfort. This mitigates the risk of unauthorised avatar usage in stickers, ultimately enhancing the security and privacy of the messaging platform.
