World's 10 biggest smartphone companies

Wonder who are the biggest smartphone companies in the world? The companies that shipped highest number of smartphones during the calender year 2018. Here are the 10 biggest companies as per CounterPoint Research

Samsung

South Korean technology giant Samsung topped the list in global smartphone shipments. However, the company's year-on-year growth declined by 8%. At the end of calendar year 2018, Samsung's market share stood at 19%.

Apple

The second-biggest smartphone brand during the year 2018 was Apple. The iPhone-maker held 14% markeshare at the end of 2018. Apple's year-on-year growth too declined 4% during the year.

Huawei

China’s Huawei emerged at third position with a 34% year-on-year growth. Just like Apple, the market share of the company stood at 14%.

Xiaomi

With an 8% market share, Xiaomi bagged fourth position in the global smartphone market. The company witnessed a 26% growth in the calendar year 2018.

Oppo

At No. 5 is Oppo, another Chinese smartphone brand. The company held 8% market share during the year 2018.

Vivo

The No. 6 position goes Vivo. The company witnessed a 3% year-on-year growth during the calendar year 2018. The market share of the company stood at 7% for the end of the year.

LG

South Korean technology company LG saw the maximum decline in year-on-year growth -- 26% -- during the calendar year 2018. The company's share stands at 3%.

Lenovo (including Motorola)

The eighth position on the list goes to Lenovo. The company witnessed a 23% fall in the year-on-year growth and had 3% market share of total global shipments.

Nokia HMD

According to the report, Nokia HMD saw the highest year-on-year growth of 126% during the calendar year 2018. This makes for 1% of the total marketshare.

Tecno

At 10th position is Tecno Mobile. The company recorded 32% year-on-year growth during the year 2018 and held 1% market share.
