The European Union and India are set to strengthen their strategic relationship with the signing of a new Security and Defence Partnership at the forthcoming EU–India Summit in New Delhi. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to addressing growing global instability and protecting the rules-based international order. The partnership will deepen cooperation in key areas including maritime security, counterterrorism, cyber-defence and maritime domain awareness, with a focus on stability in the Indo-Pacific region. In parallel, the EU and India plan to advance cooperation on mobility, enabling easier movement of students, researchers and skilled professionals.
