“Elon Musk says Hi”: Instagram was down but memes soared

Meta Platform's Instagram was down for thousands of users globally on Wednesday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

More than 46,000 users reported issues with accessing the photo-sharing platform in the United States at the peak of the outage, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its platform.


Downdetector showed about 2,000 affected users from the UK, and more than 1,000 reports each from India and Australia.

Several Indian users also reported that the social media platform was down for them in the morning. Downdetector reported that thousands of users were facing issues while accessing the social network. In India, the reports started to spike around 7 am with over 2,000 users lodging complaints.


The outage went on for a few hours when users were unable to access the platform before the services were restored.

While the platform was down, memes soared as users vented their frustrations via creativity.
