2 NEET aspirants among 4 dead, 6 hurt in J&K twin accident
JAMMU: Four persons, including two NEET aspirants, died and six others were injured in two separate road accidents in J&K’s Jammu and Kishtwar districts since Tuesday night, officials said Wednesday.
Late Tuesday, two motorcycle-borne students — Towheed Wani of Rajouri district and Mehrunnissa of Doda district, both in their early 20s — died after being run over by a truck on Sidhra bridge on Jammu city’s outskirts. “The students were staying in Jammu’s Bhatindi area and preparing for NEET examination,” said an official.
Wani, who was helming the two-wheeler, may have lost control of the bike after a person sitting inside a car parked on the bridge suddenly opened the door, said the official. Police arrested the truck driver, registered a case and initiated an investigation.
On Wednesday, two persons died while six others were injured when their SUV met with an accident in Chasti Padder area in Kishtwar district, police said. The vehicle was on its way from Chasoti towards Gulabarg Padder when tragedy struck around 2.50pm.
The injured were shifted to Atholi Padder sub-district hospital. “The deceased were identified as Akshay Kumar and Parveen Kumar, both residents of Chasoti,” said an official, adding that a case had been registered and further probe was underway.
