3,000 applicants, 200 shortlisted, 20 chosen: What it takes to become Ram Mandir priest

First, there were over 3,000 applicants. Of them, 200 were shortlisted for interviews. And finally, 20 will be chosen to be priests at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which will be unveiled amid much fanfare in 2024, months ahead of the national elections.
The 20 priests who will finally be chosen will have some very specific responsibilities and clauses to fulfill. After being shortlisted, 200 priests are undergoing ‘rigorous training’ for six months and undertake an exam before being finally selected.
