NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Wednesday took a jibe at the camaraderie between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin, suggesting that their connection is rooted in a mutual inclination towards scams.
"Ah that bonding of brotherhood - forged by a conman oops common passion for 2G spectrum and cycles," Rajeev Chandrashekhar said in response to Tamil Nadu chief minister's post on social media.
Chandrashekhar's remark was a reaction to a cordial online interaction between Stalin and Gandhi. Stalin had posted a video of himself cycling along the shoreline in Chicago, where he is currently visiting to attract investments for Tamil Nadu.
Rahul tagged Stalin and asked, "Brother, when are we cycling together in Chennai?"
Stalin, in turn, invited Gandhi to accompany him on a cycling excursion through the heart of Chennai. "Dear brother Rahul Gandhi, whenever you're free, let's ride and explore the heart of Chennai together!"
He added, "A box of sweets is still pending from my side. After our cycling, let's enjoy a delicious South Indian lunch with sweets at my home."
During the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul had bought the famous South Indian sweet, Mysore Pak, for Stalin while visiting Singanallur in Tamil Nadu.
The close bond between Stalin and Gandhi is well-known, and Gandhi had once mentioned in a public gathering that among politicians, he only referred to DMK President Stalin as 'brother.'
