Delhi Police and Gujarat Police, in a joint operation on Sunday, seized 518 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 5,000 crore, in line with the policy of "Zero Tolerance against Drugs and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan".
The raid was conducted at a pharmaceutical company in Ankleshwar, as per a statement from Delhi Police's Special Cell and Gujarat Police.
Thus, in a span of just two weeks, law enforcement agencies have made significant drug busts in Delhi and Gujarat, confiscating a total of 1,289 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of high-quality hydroponic marijuana originating from Thailand, which is said to have a value of around Rs 13,000 crore.
In a previous drug bust operation, a raid by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on October 1, seized a consignment of 562 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana from a warehouse belonging to Tushar Goyal in Mahipalpur.
Further investigation led to the recovery of an additional 208 kilograms of cocaine from a shop in Ramesh Nagar, Delhi, on October 10. Law enforcement officials discovered that the narcotics were the property of an organisation that had obtained them from the pharmaceutical company located in Ankleshwar, according to PTI sources.
Meanwhile, in another crackdown of drugs smuggling, four associates of Shahi Mahatma, an inter-state drug racket kingpin, were arrested in Shimla, police announced. The arrested suspects—Ashish, Sikander Thakur, Kulwant, and Nareh Kumar—were involved in Mahatma's drug operations, which allegedly ran under the guise of an apple business for five to six years. Mahatma, arrested in September 2024, had links with Nigerian and other drug gangs. He maintained no direct contact with his associates. Police also uncovered financial transactions of Rs 2.5-3 crore over the past 15 months, following a major drug seizure of 465 grams of chitta.
