NEW DELHI: An army officer died after falling into a gorge during an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday, officials said, as cited by PTI.
The officer, a lieutenant, was part of the security forces involved in Operation Sheruwali, which entered its 15th day.
The operation is being carried out in the Dorimaal and Gambhir Mughalan areas to locate two to three Pakistani terrorists believed to be hiding in the forests of Rajouri district.
According to officials, the officer slipped and fell into a 30-metre-deep gorge in the Dorimaal area while participating in the search operation. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Officials said the body has been recovered.
