NEW DELHI: In the Bokajan constituency in the 2026 assembly elections,
BJP's Surjya Rongphar emerged as the winner with 69,851 votes. He beat his rival Congress's Raton Engti by a margin of 17,466 votes in the high-stakes battle.
There were a total of 157241 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly election in Bokajan Assembly constituency, of whom 78054 were male, 79187 female and 0 belonged to the third gender.
Bokajan, located in Karbi Anglong district, falls under the Autonomous District (ST) Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, Numal Momin of the BJP won the seat with 60,726 votes, defeating Raton Engti of the INC, who secured 42,841 votes. The winning margin was 17,885 votes.
The Assam Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 9, 2026, with counting scheduled for May 4.
This year, assembly elections are scheduled in four states and a Union Territory. Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry will vote on April 9, while Tamil Nadu goes to the polls on April 23. West Bengal will hold elections in two phases on April 23 and April 29. Results for all these states and the Union Territory will be declared on May 4.
