CBI conducts psychological tests on prime suspect in Kolkata doctor's rape and murder: Report

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started conducting psychological tests on Sanjay Roy, the primary suspect in the rape and murder case of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, said an ANI report citing sources on Sunday.

According to reports, a team of psychology experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL)
is questioning Sanjay Roy.

A psychologist from the CBI team arrived in Kolkata on Saturday to support the investigation, according to sources.

The CBI questioned Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, for three consecutive days from August 16 to August 18, in connection with the rape and murder case of the female doctor.

A nationwide protest has erupted after semi-naked body of a second year post graduate trainee doctor was discovered in the seminar hall of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The victim's family have alleged that their daughter was raped and murdered.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) announced a nationwide suspension of non-emergency medical services for 24 hours, starting at 6 am on August 17, to protest the crime against the trainee doctor. The suspension applies to all sectors where modern medicine doctors are providing services, according to the doctors' organization.
