India on Friday reported 1,49,394 fresh cases (13% lower than yesterday), 2,46,674 recoveries, and 1072 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total active cases has reached 14,35,569 and the death toll stands at 5,00,055. Stay with TOI for latest updates:

The Union health ministry on Thursday refuted as “misleading” media reports which claimed that 50 lakh unused Covishield doses may go waste by the end of this month.It said the Centre had proactively advised all state governments to review the availability of vaccines, right from the start of the vaccination drive against COVID-19, to ensure that the wastage of doses is reduced to a minimum.
