Ex-home secretary Goswami, Farooq’s brother figure in J&K Roshni land list

’s younger brother Mustafa Kamal too owns two kanals of land at Bathindi in Sunjwan under the Roshni scheme, according to official website.

The land was shown in the name of Goswami’s father Ved Parkash, retired accountant general and a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Jammu. The beneficiary is shown as Anil Goswami, according to the

The site also has names of Mubbaser Latefi, SSP in J&K police who is shown to have acquired one and half kanals of land in one of the costly areas of Sidhra where many retired bureaucrats and former ministers live.

The name of a property dealer, Mohd Hussain, who is the relative of a politician, is also found to be owning about two acres of land at Deeli, 10km ahead of Marbal Market in Jammu under Roshni scheme, the official site reveals.

Official sources disclosed that a former chief secretary, who is the father-in-law of an important National Conference functionary from Jammu has acquired forest land in Malhori Jagir village and has built a farm house amid the forest. However, the official website is yet to upload the name of the beneficiary who remained J&K chief secretary for three years.

Anil Goswami had resigned from Union home secretary’s post in 2015, five months short of his fixed two-tenure, after his alleged interference in

CBI investigation

into Sarada chit fund scam was exposed. Goswami put in his papers after he, in a meeting with then home minister Rajnath Singh, admitted that he had indeed called up CBI officers to dissuade them from summoning former Union minister Matang Sinh for questioning in Kolkata and then arresting him in the case.

With the government taking a strict view of his “misconduct”, Goswami was given the option of voluntary retirement. He settled for the same, and was immediately replaced by LC Goyal as home secretary.
