Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy is ‘Rachana Entrepreneur of the Year. Lawrence Pinto is ‘Rachana Agriculturist of the Year’, Aloysius Richard Lobo ‘Rachana NRI of the Year’ and Sr Maria Jyothi, founder principal of St Agnes Special School – Rachana Woman of the Year, Stany announced here on Tuesday.
Instituted in 2003, the award was presented annually up to 2016 and has become a biennial affair since. While the awards were presented in three categories for the first five years, the categories – Rachana NRI of the Year and Rachana Woman of the Year was added in the sixth year, Stany said, adding each award consists of a memento, citation, fruit bowl and a shawl. A 25-member jury selected the awardees in each of these categories, he said.
