Gaming co ban revoked for 3-month trial

NEW DELHI: Online gaming app Battleground Mobile India, seen as the Indian version of controversial PUBG, will resume operations in India after the government revoked the ban from it for a three-month trial period.

South Korean company Krafton owns Battleground Mobile India. The Indian government blocked BGMI, the flagship game made by Krafton last July, citing concerns about its data-sharing and mining in China. Krafton is backed by China's Tencent which owns around a 13.5% stake.

Junior electronics and IT minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a tweet on Friday said a three-month trial approval has been granted for BGMI. tnn
