Go to HC, says SC, junks Soren plea challenging ED summons
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court refused to entertain Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren's plea challenging the summons issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with money laundering charges and asked him to first approach the high court.
As the bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi said that the case should be first heard by the HC, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Soren, agreed to withdraw the petition to approach HC.
Additional solicitor general S V Raju, appearing for the ED , submitted that the legal issue raised by Soren in his petition had already been adjudicated by the apex court. But his submission was strongly opposed by Rohatgi who said that he was ready to argue and alleged that the agency was resorting to "witchhunt" against his client.
The bench, asked the parties to argue before the HC and allowed Soren to withdraw his petition to move to HC.tnn

Why such pleas are listed which don't follow the laid procedures and overlap the authority of the lower courts.Read allPost comment
