Haryana health minister conducts surprise inspection in government hospitals; says 500 doctors to be recruited to fill shortages
KURUKSHETRA: Haryana health minister Arti Singh Rao said that there will be no shortage of doctors in government hospitals and the government will soon recruit 500 doctors for these hospitals. The proposal for recruitment has already been prepared, and the hiring process will begin soon.
Rao was interacting with the media after conducting a surprise inspection of LNJP Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra on Friday. Earlier, the minister checked the pharmacy, toilets, and cleanliness arrangements in every ward of the hospital. She reprimanded officers for the problems faced by patients, especially in the children’s ward, due to heaps of debris scattered around the hospital and the poor condition of the toilets. The minister also interacted with patients and found that medicines were available in sufficient quantities in the pharmacy.
During her visit, the Health Minister directed all health department officers and doctors to ensure that patients are provided with all necessary facilities. CMO, Dr. Sukhbir Singh provided detailed information regarding the construction of the new hospital building, availability of medicines, and overall hospital arrangements.
While interacting with the media, the Health Minister said that to maintain cleanliness and avoid causing any inconvenience to patients the new building of the LNJP hospital which is under construction will be completed in a phased manner. She emphasised special focus towards improving hygiene and upgrading all the toilets.
In response to another question, Arti Singh Rao said that many districts of Haryana have been affected due to floods. During this time, health department officers and staff are monitoring people’s health and distributing free medicines. Fogging operations are also being carried out in affected areas. She further said that although the government has already made all possible arrangements to prevent diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, it is equally important for health department officers as well as citizens to remain alert.
She congratulated the health department officers for the recognition of their malaria control efforts in Kurukshetra by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.
Kurukshetra CMO Dr Sukhbir Singh, Deputy CMO Dr Ramesh Sabharwal, XEN Rishi Sachdeva and other officers also remained present.
