3 independent MLAs withdrew their support
In a setback to the ruling BJP in Haryana amid the Lok Sabha elections, three Independent MLAs, Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Gollen and Dharampal Gonder, on Tuesday announced they have withdrawn their support to the Nayab Singh Saini-led government in the state.
'Would not have any impact on our government': Haryana CM Saini
CM Nayab Singh Saini was confident that his government would not be affected. “I have come to know that few independent MLAs who had ‘some desires’ announced support to Congress party. Public understands the intentions of such persons and it would not have any impact on our government,” Saini said.
BJP government has lost majority in Haryana: Congress
Congress following the withdrawal of the support by the MLAs said that BJP has lost the majority in Haryana.
Congress MP Deependra Singh Hooda said that the situation in Haryana is against the BJP and change is definite in the state.'Decided to support till Khattar was in power'
One of the three MLAs, Gondher said that they had decided to support the time government till the time former CM Manoharlal Khattar was in power.
"At the time when they needed our support to form the government we were called again and again. We had decided that till the time Manoharlal Khattar was in power, we would support. We are sad that he is no more in power. In the interest of the farmers we withdraw the support from the government," he said.
Haryana assembly currently has an effective strength of 88 members
The 90-member Haryana assembly has an effective strength of 88 at present after the resignations of former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and independent MLA Ranjit Singh Chautala.
The BJP right now has 40 MLAs, Congress has 30 MLAs, JJ, INLD and HLP (Gopal Kanda) one each and there are six independents.
