To mark the achievement, a function was organized at NFC in the city to hand over the one millionth PHWR fuel bundle to S K Sharma, chairman & managing director, Nuclear

Power Corporation of India

Limited (NPCIL), Mumbai on Monday. The one millionth bundle was handed over by Dinesh Srivastava, Distinguished Scientist and Chairman & chief executive, NFC toS K Sharma.

Dinesh Srivastava appreciated the role played by NFC employees in achieving the production of one million bundles. He assured CMD, NPCIL that the fuel and core structurals required for the 10 New PHWRs will be met by NFC as per the schedule. He said NFC was gearing up in creating the manufacturing facilities to meet the requirement in addition to meeting the fuel and structural requirements of all the operating reactors in India.

S K Sharma, CMD, NPCIL while receiving the one millionth bundle appreciated the efforts of NFC in supplying the quality fuel bundles to meet the ever increasing demand of Nuclear Power Reactors. He also appreciated the efforts and quick delivery of 2 sets of Coolant Tubes for EMCCR of KAPS-1&2, because of which, NPCIL is able to re-commission the Units at a short span of time.

At times of shortage of Uranium in the Country, NFC took very innovative steps to recover Uranium from various kinds of Uranium bearing scraps and delivered the fuel to Nuclear Power Reactors. To continue the reactor operations, NFC has delivered the fuel bundles at a frequency of 15 days, he said.
