NEW DELHI: Congress candidate Brijendra Singh Ola emerged victorious from Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu constituency with 5,53,168 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Shubhkaran Choudhary by a margin of 18,235 votes.
The Congress party has long been a dominant force in Jhunjhunu's political landscape. From 1996 to 2009, Congress's former Union minister Sheesh Ram Ola emerged victorious in five consecutive parliamentary elections. Despite the BJP's growing influence, particularly in the last two elections, the late Congress leader Sisram Ola's impact remains significant.
The BJP consistently faces tough challenges and changes its candidates in every subsequent election. The constituency encompasses the entire Jhunjhunu district and a portion of the Sikar district. Voting for this constituency was conducted during the first phase of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections on April 19, across 8 legislative assemblies. The Lok Sabha Election 2024 recorded a voter turnout of 52.93%.
In this election, the key candidates for Jhunjhunu constituencies were Shubhkaran Choudhary from Bhartiya Janta Party and Brijendra Singh Ola from Indian National Congress.

The 2019 Lok Sabha election recorded a voter turnout of 60.9%. Narendra Kumar of BJP emerged victorious, garnering 7,22,994 votes and defeating Sharwan Kumar S/o Gokal Ram (INC) by a margin of 2,91,021 votes. The 2014 Elections witnessed a substantial voter turnout, with BJP's Santosh Ahlawat securing a resounding victory against Congress's Rajbala Ola. The election results highlighted the shift in voter preference towards the BJP amidst the immense Modi wave.
The 2024 Lok Sabha election also saw BJP replacing its sitting MP Narendra Kumar with former MLA Shubhkaran Choudhary, who stirred controversy with his comment about Rajputs, a significant voter base for the BJP. Adding to the intense competition, Congress fielded Sheesh Ram's son Brijendra Singh Ola, the current Jhunjhunu MLA.
