Rahul Gandhi met PM Modi and Amit Shah to finalise key appointments for the Central Information Commission and Central Vigilance Commission, submitting a dissent note. This meeting occurred as Gandhi's upcoming Berlin visit for an Indian Overseas Congress event drew criticism from the BJP, accusing him of prioritizing foreign trips over parliamentary duties.

NEW DELHI: In response to an RTI query, the Department of Personnel and Training revealed that 83 applications were received for the post of Chief Information Commissioner following an advertisement issued on May 21. It added that 161 applications were received through the August 14, 2024 notification for Information Commissioner vacancies.Once the PM Modi-led committee finalises its recommendations, the appointments are made by the President.
