Maharashtra, Jharkahand Assembly Election 2024 Live Updates: 'Soren govt followed 'divide and rule' policy,' says Nadda at Bokaro rally
As the BJP continued to raise concerns over infiltration in Jharkhand, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticised the party for stoking fear among the public. Addressing a rally in Jamtara on Saturday, Kharge questioned, "If the BJP is in power at the Centre, with the Prime Minister and Home Minister in charge, why are infiltrators still entering the country?" He added, "They scare us with talk of infiltrators, yet the government they control does nothing to stop them."Kharge further accused the BJP of fostering division. "They don’t know how to govern; they only know how to divide. They've turned the issue of infiltrators into a political tool, spreading fear to incite people. But the public has seen through this tactic," he said.Kharge also targeted the BJP after a delay in the helicopter of party MP Rahul Gandhi. "When we try to visit, our helicopters are stopped. Rahul Gandhi's flight was blocked yesterday, and today my helicopter was delayed for 20 minutes," he said, highlighting the political interference.Sharpening his criticism, Kharge described the BJP’s star campaigners as arriving in Jharkhand like "vultures" during a "battle." "They're treating it like a war, but the real battle is for democracy, where the people, not the leaders, have the power," he concluded. The first phase of Jharkhand’s assembly elections concluded on November 13, with the remaining seats to be contested on November 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.Stay with TOI for latest updates:
