An alleged naxalite and his wife, wanted in several cases of arson, murder and dacoity, were arrested on Thursday.
BALAGHAT (MP): An alleged naxalite and his wife, wanted in several cases of arson, murder and dacoity, were arrested during a search operation under Roopjhar police station area on Thursday, police said. Sarvan alias Rajendra alias Magaru Gond and his wife Sunita alias Paro were arrested during the search operation in the jungles, Inspector General of Police C V Muniraju told reporters.
Sarvan held the post of a commandant in Malajkhand Dalam and was wanted for over 45 cases of murder, arson, dacoity and loot in the area, Superintendent of Police Solomon Minj said adding, Paro was wanted for six similar crimes. A large quantity of material associated with naxalite movements were also recovered from the couple, he said.
