Parliament scuffle: Condition of BJP's Sarangi, Rajput stable, say doctors
NEW DELHI: The health condition of BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput - injured in a scuffle between opposition and NDA members on the Parliament premises on Thursday - is stable, according to doctors at the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital.
RML medical superintendent Dr Ajay Shukla told TOI that while Sarangi suffered a deep cut on his forehead in the scuffle, Rajput fell unconscious and his blood pressure also shot up.
"When Sarangi was rushed to the hospital in the afternoon, he was bleeding profusely. We had to put stitches on his forehead. He has a history of heart ailment so cardiac work up was also done. Rajput, on the other hand, had to undergo a CT scan of the head and MRI of the spine as he complained of internal injury in the head and back pain," Shukla said.
He added that "we plan to observe them overnight and then take calls on whether any further intervention is needed or not". "At present, both are stable, and we are only giving them symptomatic treatment," Shukla said. There was heavy police deployment on the hospital's premises. "Many VIPs are coming to visit the injured MPs. That's why security has been beefed up in and around the hospital," officials said. PM Narendra Modi called up Sarangi and Rajput, and enquired about their health.
