NEW DELHI: Defence minister Rajnath Singh and chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, reached Jammu on Wednesday to review security after the Poonch attack on army vehicles, in which four Jawans were killed.

While addressing the media Rajnath Singh said, "I would pray for the speedy recovery of the army personnel who sustained injuries. I would like to ensure you that keeping in mind the severity of the incident, required steps are being taken. Each of our army personnel is important to us."

"There should be end to terrorism in J&K, move forward with this commitment to stamp out terrorism", the defence minister told army troops.

General Manoj Pande also paid a visit to the Poonch-Rajouri sector on Wednesday. Additionally, he is anticipated to make another visit later this week, accompanied by senior officials from the defense ministry.

During his visit, General Pande received detailed briefings from high-ranking commanders regarding ongoing operations and strategic measures planned to enhance the effectiveness of counterterrorism efforts in the upcoming days.

As per sources, the Indian Army is planning to increase the number of troops in the Poonch-Rajouri sector to counter Pakistani terrorist activities.

"An additional brigade-size formation had been moved into the area a few months ago. It is planned that another brigade will come there along with a few other units to support counter-terrorist operations," sources in the Army informed ANI.

Last week on Thursday, heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles near Thanamandi in the Rajouri sector, resulting in the tragic loss of four Army personnel and injuries to three others.
