Across Puducherry, early counting trends indicate that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC), is firmly on course to retain power in the 30-member assembly. The AINRC is leading in a majority of constituencies, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) adding to the alliance’s tally, giving the NDA a clear edge as results continue to come in.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy has emerged as one of the key winners of the day, securing the Thattanchavady seat by 4,441 votes. He secured 10,024 votes, defeating E.] Vinayagam, who managed 5,583 votes. Independent candidate K. Sethu finished third, while senior Congress leader V. Vaithilingam trailed, highlighting a broader setback for the Congress.
The Congress-DMK alliance, projected as the principal challenger, is struggling to gain ground and is leading in only a handful of seats. The trends point to a fragmented opposition that has been unable to match the NDA’s organisational strength and voter outreach.
Overall, the emerging picture suggests a consolidation of support behind the NDA, with Rangasamy’s leadership continuing to anchor the alliance’s performance. Having returned to power in 2021, the alliance now appears poised for another term, signalling voter preference for continuity and stability in Puducherry’s governance.
