'This is unfair': Flood-hit Kerala still awaits a relief package, Rahul tells PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for neglecting the flood-hit state of Kerala.

Earlier today, the PM, addressing an event at a Kerala-based media organisation, recalled his visit to the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple after winning the 2019 Lok Sabha polls earlier this year. The Congress leader took a jibe at the Prime Minister, saying that the Prime Minister should have also scheduled a visit to the town of Guruvayur after it was hit by floods.

"After your visit to Guruvayur — a huge flood visited Kerala, causing death & destruction. A timely visit then would have been appreciated," the Congress leader tweeted.

Rahul also alleged that unlike the other flood-ravaged states, Kerala is yet to get a relief package from the Central government.

"Kerala is suffering and still awaits a relief package, like those given to other flood-hit states. This is unfair," he added.

Earlier this month, the former Congress president had urged the PM to develop a long-term strategy and action plan, supported through a special package of assistance for his flood-ravaged constituency Wayanad in Kerala.
