According to the commercial circular issued by Railway Board on Tuesday, a TDR has to be filed after surrendering the original ticket. TDR has to be filed within prescribed time limit for cancellation of ticket across the counter as per refund rules; i.e., half an hour before scheduled departure of the train for RAC and waitlisted tickets and up to four hours for confirmed tickets.

When a passenger wishes to cancel ticket across the counter, he/she must show the PAN card or Aadhaar card to the counter clerk. The counter clerk will issue a ticket deposit receipt which must be sent to the chief commercial manger/refunds along with the self-attested copy of the PAN card/Aadhaar card and details of bank account into which the refunds are to be made.
