Rajiv Gauba replaces Rajiv Mehrishi as home secretary

NEW DELHI: The appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed senior IAS officer

Rajiv Gauba

as Union

home secretary

on Wednesday, replacing incumbent Rajiv Mehrishi who is set to retire in August 2017.

The 1982-batch Jharkhand cadre officer Gauba is currently posted as secretary in Ministry of Urban Development as Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

Apart from Gauba, 16 other officers have been trasferred by the Cabinet committee today.

NK Sinha, 1980-batch Bihar cadre officer has been posted as secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting against the vacancy created due to appointment of Ajay Mittal (1982-batch Himachal Pradesh cadre officer) as Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Aruna Sundararajan, 1982-batch Kerala cadre officer, has been appointed as secretary in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

In another appointment of the day, Avinash K Srivastava (1982-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre officer) has been given the charge of secretary Department of Consumer Affairs. While as 1983-batch Assam cadre officer Jagdish Prasad Meena has been posted as Secretary in Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

has been posted as Secretary in Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in the existing vacancy.

Subash C Garg, 1983-batch Rajasthan cadre officer, has been posted as Secretary in Department of Economic Affairs against existing vacancy. 1983-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre Rajeev Kapoor has been the charge of Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals and Sanjeevanee Kutty (1983-batch Maharashtra cadre officer) has been posted as secretary in the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare against the vacancy caused on superannuation of Prabhudayal Meena.

1984-batch Bihar cadre officer Deepak Kumar as Chairman, National Highways Authority of India and Durga Shanker Mishra (1984-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre officer) has been given the charge of Secretary in Ministry of Urban Development.

Arun Kumar Panda, 1984-batch Orissa cadre has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Another Bihar cadre officer(1984-batch)Ravi Kant has been appointed as secretary in Ministry of Shipping in the vacancy caused due to repatriation of Rajive Kumar to his parent cadre.

1984-batch Kerala cadre officer has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Ajay Prakash Sawhney, 1984-batch Andhra Pradesh cadre officer, has been appointed as Secretary in Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

And Ajay Kumar Bhalla (1984-batch Assam cadre officer) has been posted as Secretary in the Ministry of Power against the vacancy caused on superannuation of PK Pujari.
